Fasting: More Than Just Eating (Or Not Eating)

Most individuals focus on fasting as solely a restriction on food. However, fasting can be just as much an emotional detox as it is a physical one. The practice of meditation is a form of fasting from conscious and subconscious thought patterns. Fasting in this sense, allows a person to identify and let go of any negative thought patterns while instilling new positive ones. This process, termed neuroplasticity, allows the brain to make and reinforce new neural pathways and connections. You may have heard this term from Dr. Joe Dispenza in his books on “rewiring” the brain. Clearing the mind of clutter and inharmonious thoughts also leads to lasting states of focus and mental efficiency on a level where nutrition as a solitary means of change, may fall short of achieving.
